Tuesday being the nativity of our beloved Heir Apparent, the morning was ushered in by the ringing of bells and other demonstrations of joy. About ten, the armed brigs and sloops of war lying in the orad, appeared dressed out in colours and saluted the town, by a discharge of their guns. The Level presented a different scene, which called to our recollections the pleasure we recieved on like occasions, at a similar fete i n1789. There two fat oxen were placed before huge fires, amidst the shouts of the multitudes, to be roasted whole under the direction nof Mr Russell, his Royal Highness’ butcher. At twelve the race ground exhibited a very grand military spectacle. All the troops in the neighbourhood with the 4th dragoons from Chichester and Arundel and Nottingham and South Hants militia from Steyning and Shoreham consisting of at least 7000 men, were drawn up in review order and fired a Feu-de-Joie in honour of the day.
