Brighton News Story – 9 August, 1789: Prince’s Brighton birthday plans

Next Wednesday being the birthday of his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, a grand ball and supper will be given by the Duke of York and the Duke of Clarence in honour of the fame.  The Birth Day Ball on Wednesday we should think will exceed in glamour and brilliancy and thing of the kind that ever appeared at Brighthelmstone.  The company are to be select and Mr St Leger has received the commands of their Royal Highness to present cards of invitation.
