Brighton News Story — 19 May, 1806: Quaker burial site found at Church Street

On digging the foundations of the Prince’s riding-house, near to his Royal Highness’s Stables in Church Street, last week, a number of human bones, lying in a horizontal direction were found, and one undecayed, wood coffin.  The ground had been formerly the burying place of the people called Quakers.  Great care was taken that the ashes might be disturbed as little as possible.
